Desert Pines 29, Green Valley 12 -- At Desert Pines, Cornell Johnson ran for 148 yards and three touchdowns to lead third-ranked Desert Pines past Green Valley. The Jaguars (9-1) took an early lead when Mike Washington intercepted a Jesse McCulloch pass and returned it 31 yards for a touchdown two minutes into the game. After Johnson scored on runs of 20 and 2 yards, the Gators' Anthony Scott caught an 18-yard TD pass from Jesse McCulloch just before halftime to make it 23-6. With Desert Pines punting into the wind, Green Valley (3-7) started its first two possessions of the second half at the Jaguars' 20 and 21. But Desert Pines stopped the Gators on fourth-and-goal from the 1 on the first possession. Green Valley's Fabian King scored on a 3-yard run on the next possession.
